It seems like you are brought into the middle of the story, then as you start to get the point of it it ends. Not a lot mentioned about what his crime was or to whom or if he had a good reason. You get that he loves his kid and wants to get back with his former wife eve if it means risking his life to do so. Some details about the destruction of his ship and being rescued by a crazy android. The story could have more details or even a prequel to fill you in on his life and why he ended up where he did more depth could also be used on the main character as well. It has promise of being a good story I just hope the second part goes a little better.Product details

Black Hull Episode 1 A Lost In Spacetime Thriller eBook Joseph Turkot Reviews
Make no mistake this is only an episode not a short story. We are given a vague history of the main characters path to this point of introduction and a brief bit of story. Mick is clearly confused with his circumstance which means we are confused as well. The writing is decent but not that compelling. This episode has no "ending" so it's not really a stand alone segment. Just like Mick, I'm curious as to why he ended up in an escape pod but not curious enough to buy thirty more pages for ninety nine cents. This episode needed more impact, more bait to get me to grab the hook.
A good short story that entertains and stimulates at their same time. Looking forward. to what is in the works
I ended this book with the one thought "Be careful what you wish for". I"ve been a Turkot fan since reading "The Rain" and I enjoyed this one too.
Form this sample (episode 1 and 2) I can describe this book as sf comedy. Maybe it is not intentional, but I can't described it differently. The plot and situations are rather totally unbelievable but I don't suppose it is a flaw in this type of book. If one likes such specific humor than this book can be very good.
I wasn't dissatisfied but wasn't satisfied enough to buy the rest episodes, too.
Man trades ten years in space doing one last job smuggling rare ore aboard a dilapidated cargo ship so as to avoid a 30 year prison term, only to experience a system malfunction that threatens his very life with only hours of air remaining. Loved this passage "He bounced like a rubber ball, back and forth, floor to ceiling, wall to wall, shouting, screaming, crying. He saw the faces of his children." Grabbed all three of the first free episodes, but believe I will ultimately just purchase the whole book as the characters and story line are phenomenal. Another book I'll be adding to my favorites!
I got one foot in the Black Hull, and like the Out of Limits, I like to adjust the picture for clarity and focus. It takes awhile to grasp what is happening to the main character, and even after that I am still on the dizzy roller coaster ride of a strange story. Once the story settles down and really makes total sense to the reader, the plot will be crystal clear and full of clarity. Reminds me of a mystery with the clues coming slowly one at a time. I read the first serial, and I guess I will see what is in store for Mick. One thing for sure is his adventure has unfinished business, and a better life than 30 years of a sentence no matter what time-line, space has in it's travel.
I like his beginning. It sets up a mystery I want to know about. Awakening in an escape pod with little memory of what happened is a great start to an interesting space based tale. A solid beginning with competent straightforward writing. Recommended.
